The SA Cancer Council offers a wealth of volunteer opportunities to:

  • Get involved in Council events
  • Work with UT Health Cancer Center patients
  • Promote the SA Cancer Council

Explore the many ways you can volunteer to serve the UT Health Cancer Center, its patients, and our community. We accommodate a variety of interests, talents, and schedules.

Spring Luncheon: One of our largest annual fundraisers, this event benefits the Patient Assistance Fund for UT Health Cancer Center patients requiring, food, medication, transportation, and other support. The luncheon relies on the hard work of our members and volunteers to continually draw hundreds of guests.

Partners Shopping Card: This popular program qualifies shoppers for 20% off at more than 300 San Antonio-area retailers. All proceeds benefit UT Health Cancer Center research. Our members are critical to promoting this program throughout our community.

The San Antonio Express-News Book & Author Luncheon: This longstanding annual event features noted authors, with proceeds benefiting the UT Health Cancer Center Phase I Clinical Research Program.

Patient Ambassador. Help patients and their families navigate UT Health Cancer Center.

Soul Friend: Provide personal support to patients undergoing cancer treatment and to their families.

Research Support. Assemble clinical trial kits to free up nurses so that they can focus on patients.

Clinical volunteer: Staff the free skin cancer clinics.

Support the work of the Council through publicity initiatives, social media outreach, and technology support.
